HIGHWIRE is a theatre company created by Page Clements and Mary Ethel Schmidt to share with student actors the challenges of performing heightened text through

professional productions & actor-led workshops.

In addition to David Mamet's Boston Marriage, we also perform Sophocles’ Elektra in a translation by Ezra Pound, two one-woman shows, The Belle of Amherst by William Luce and Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein by Marty Martin, and are currently preparing Jean Genet’s The Maids.

Our workshops support values shared by all theatre programs - the needed integration of the technical issues of voice and speech with organic acting techniques - and are effective as one-day workshops or within a more intensive two-week program.
